Watoto - Members

Our Team
We would like to
introduce those members of Watoto who are regularly travelling to Kenya.
Needless to mention that they pay for their travel and all other related
expenses themselves. The society has no administrative costs, it is guaranteed
that 100% of all donated funds reach the children and the schools in Kenya.

|
Doris Wentzel, Baunatal
Born in 1940. Widow of Heinzi, with whom she lived in Nigeria for nearly 14
years and shares responsibility for Stefan and Cordula. She worked
as a secretary at the German School Lagos
for many years and thus has a lot of experience with running schools the
African way.
Doris is Treasurer of Watoto e.V. at the society's headquarters in
Baunatal. |

|
Frank Müther, Düsseldorf
Born in
1953. The Kenyans call
him "Mzee" (great wise man) because of his greying hair and superior appearance.
Frank has to be credited for organising most of the funding for Manuel
Alexander School. Since Frank suffered a severe stroke in 2009, his
activities for the project are somewhat limited. Nobody curses the fact
more than he himself. |

|
Micki Wentzel,
Hamburg/Galu
Born
in 1966. As a Briton, Micki has the least communication problems in the country.
Besides, she simply uses her charm when dealing with matters, whereas the
others would have to use buckets full of Kenyan Shillings. For the Kenyans, she is simply
"Mama". In 2010, Micki
applied for a three years unpaid leave with her employer to be able to
spend more time with the project.
Micki's
responsibility is probably the most important part of our project:
sponsorships. Slightly less than 400 children had a sponsorship in 2011, but
she would like to have more of them. |

|
Stefan Wentzel,
Hamburg/Galu
Born in 1963.
Married to Micki for 20 years, and he never looked back. As for her, well,
who knows.
Stefan spent about nine years of his childhood in Nigeria. He is not exactly Tarzan, but a
bush-boy nonetheless. Due to his African experience he proves himself occasionally useful.
He speaks fluent Pidgin-English, and he is sometimes called
"German Massai".
Stefan's duties
are... - well, as mentioned, he is occasionally useful. Oh, well, he is
Watoto's webmaster, too. |

|
Kai-Peter
(Bambi) Breiholdt, Berlin
Born in
1962. Kai received his nickname in primary school. Since then we know him,
and ever since we kept his nickname alive, how very unfortunate. Kai has been a
member of the board since Watoto e.V. was founded, which happens to be
convenient at times because he knows quite a bit about the law.
|

|
Cordula Jacob, Hamburg
Born in 1965.
Some years back Cordula's family name was Wentzel, too. She had been in
Nigeria even 2 years longer than her brother. That time has had a lot of
influence on her, and she has been attracted to Africa ever since. She and
her familiy have been living in Cape Town from 2005 until 2009.
Cordula is our
current Chairlady
of the Board of Watoto e.V.
|

|
Tom Jacob,
Hamburg
Born in 1967. Tom came in touch
with Africa relatively late. His wife Cordula found it wiser to feed him the
continent in small doses, taking a detour via Cape Town (Africa light)
first. That worked out quite well, Tom feels very comfortable in Africa nowadays,
but he and his family returned from Cape Town after four years in 2009.

|
Stephan
Schilling, Haan-Gruiten
Born in 1964.
Stephan has been travelling to Kenya for more than 15 years and has followed
our project practically from the beginning. His strengths are, among others,
his creativity he derives from his vast experience in the
advertising industry, and his analytical abilities. Stephan applied for
membership with Watoto with the reason that allegedly we never had enough
Shillings at our disposal in the past. Well, what can one reply to such a
brilliant plea? The gentleman is absolutely right!
Stephan is our
current Deputy Chairman
of the Board of Watoto e.V. |

|
Anke Rühl,
Haan-Gruiten
Born in 1964.
Anke has been working as a kindergarten teacher. Her professional background
provides the best qualification as partner of Stephan, but of course her
expertise comes in very handy for our project too. |

|
Carolin
Barth, Flensburg
Born in 1961.
Carolin is a genuine Northerner and a true blonde. Coming from
Schleswig-Holstein, she spent many years in the United States and China
together with her family. On her return back to Europe, she is now able to
support Watoto with her well organised skills. |

|
Kathleen
Resmer, Hamburg
Born in 1961.
Kathleen is our baby of the bunch so to speak. She has made her profession
to her hobby and tirelessly travels around the whole world when
she has the opportunity. She was already on all five continents and also in
Kenya. Where, she has lost her heart to Watoto. |
